Cephalexin lowers the level or effect of balsalazide by altering the intestinal flora. Applies only to the oral form of both agents. Minor / Unknown meaning. Positive direct coomb tests have been reported during treatment with cephalosporin antibiotics. In hematological studies or transfusion cross-matching procedures, when antiglobulin tests are performed on the lateral side, or in Coombs tests of newborns whose mothers received cephalosporin antibiotics before birth, it should be recognized that a positive Coombs test may be due to the drug.
